Hey all, Johno here, I’m buzzing to announce that one of my photos has been picked as a Finalist in the World Sports Photography Awards 2025!
Thousands of photographers from all around the world enter the World Sports Photography Awards every year and only 35 are picked as finalists in each category. My photo of a big right hand landing at a Muay Thai show in Ashington, UK, has been chosen as a finalist in the Martial Arts Category.

This humble photo from a small Muay Thai show has been chosen alongside the likes of Max Holloway’s KO at UFC 300 and some of the best shots from One Championship.
Needless to say I was hugely surprised to be picked and still can’t quite believe it. It’s an incredible accolade to have though and a great feeling to be recognised by the biggest award in the Sports Photography world.
I can’t imagine I’ll be winning vs THAT Max Holloway photo but you never know! Keep an eye on the website for updates.
